Starting again

Updated: Jan 1

This year, I decided to return to writing. After years of neglecting it, the task hasn’t been easy. Fortunately, I found motivation from the people around me. I want to record my thoughts and experiences as a meaningful gift to my future self. How ideal it would be to sit back in my old age, sipping tea, and enjoying my blog. Even better, if it can inspire you during some phase of your life.

Did you know? At the age of 30, I started learning again. A completely new field—computer science. Sounds cool, right? In truth, this is the area I’m weakest in. I don’t even know why I shifted from pharmacy to this field, but perhaps change sometimes stems from decisions we cannot fully explain.

Deciding to go back to school after nearly a decade, at the age of 30, was truly a big challenge. At this age, most of my friends were settling down, married with kids, or living stable lives. As for me, I’m still single, studying full-time while also balancing my main job. Honestly, this was not an easy start.

During that period, I figgured out a few key factors that helped me succeed—persistence and time investment. However, the most important realization was the value of companionship. I was fortunate to have a friend who would support and accompany me no matter what I decided to do, as if they were ready to join me in pulling off the coolest dance moves on the nightclub floor back then. We weren’t drunk but always sober in our decisions, and I am truly grateful for that.

Compared to back then, now that I’ve decided to start writing again, I no longer feel as lost as before. Perhaps after overcoming such big challenges, I’ve come to realize that future decisions will be easier to make.

Just like that time, this time I also have friends, though not longtime companions, who understand my passion and see that I can inspire those around me with my stories. With all the encouragement and my undying passion for writing, I’m determined to begin again in earnest.

I hope that, with all sincerity, I can recount to both myself and you the truest stories of life’s precious moments.
